The park is also known as Zia Uddan as the former president of Bangladesh, Major Ziaur Rahman was buried thereafter he was killed in 1981. Dhanmondi Lake Park
Once I went to Dhaka for a job’s interview purpose and after finishing the interview I feel like to be refreshed from the hustle of Dhaka city. One of my friends suggested visiting the Dhanmondi Lake Park which is beside the Bangabandhu Museum. Guess what, I was just astonished to see the view of the green park! It was an abandoned channel of the Karwan Bazar river and connected to the Turag river.
As a residential area, Dhanmondi was developed in 1956 and 16% of the area was designated for the lake. Now a day, the lake park is one of the cultural hubs for the local people. The green view, sidewalk beside the lake, benches to sit and the bridges over the water view will allow you to indulge in the beauty of the park.

Dhaka Shishu Park
The park is the only public amusement park for children in Dhaka. It was established in 1979 on an area of 15 acres. Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation established it as a profit-making venture. Since 1983 Dhaka City Corporation maintained it. In the 1980s and 1990s, Dhaka Shishu Park is the most visited entertainment park for the visitors. But with the span of time, it has lost its appeal. Because most of its rides are not in a good position and many private amusement parks are cutting off the visitors from the park.
In spite of losing the old charm, the park is still a more popular children’s amusement park in Dhaka for middle-class people. Dhaka Shishu Park has 12 rides including a merry-go-round, a wheel train and a number of charming rides for the children. The rides are cheapest than all amusement park in Dhaka, pricing BDT 10.00 for each ride. A private company owned ride coupons cost Tk. 25 (including VAT) per person. At present, there are 04 rides maintained by a private company. Another attraction of the park is a fighter jet donated by Bangladesh Air Force in 1992. About 6000 visitors are drawn by the park but during Eid holidays and festivals the numbers reach up to 350 thousand!
