History of Kuakata refers the migration of Arakan’s into Bengal. Kuakata (Is a Bengali Word) comes from Kua which means “Well or Ponds.” Arakan started living in Kuakata around the 18th century. Due to the inadequacy of drinking water, Arakan dug so many wells or ponds in Kuakata. At that time it was named as Kuakata.

Dhaka to Patuakhali Launch Services
There are several Launch services are available from Dhaka Sadarghat to Kuakata. It will be the best practice to reserve ticket one or two days before. The Cabin rent of Launch varies from 900 BDT to 1100 BDT, and Double Cabin rent 1800 BDT and Deluxe 2000 BDT. If you want to visit in Deck, it will cost almost 200 BDT. Everyday Several Launch leaves from Dhaka to Patuakhali from 4 pm to 6 pm local time.

Dhaka to Kuakata Bus Service
Travel by bus is also another way to make to visit Kuakata. From Dhaka, Gabtali Bus stand several bus services are available. It starts from morning to night. By using these bus services, you can quickly reach Patuakhali. There are two bus services from Dhaka to Kuakata. But their service quality is no good enough
After reaching Patuakhali, you have to visit through bus from the Patuakhali bus station which will cost around 100 BDT.
